I am Canadian, currently living in North Holland with my Dutch husband, Bert. In 1997, we met on an Internet support site for patients dealing with IBD ("Inflammatory Bowel Disease"). Personally, I suffer from Crohn's Disease, and my husband was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. We were married the following year in our hometown of Alkmaar, North Holland. If either yourself, or a friend or loved one, suffers from IBD, you can check out the wonderful support sites that are available on the internet - any search engine will give you lots of hits, and lots of help.

My hobbies include designing and creating clothing, wood-work, web-pages and paintings. Many of these items have been decorated with traditional Celtic patterns. Each piece that has been decorated with Celtic patterns has had the design hand-drawn specifically for that particular project. Check out the section on this site labeled "Creations" to view some of my works.
My husband Bert is an excellent guitar player - he has four guitars if you count the old one of mine I never use! We have recently purchased a violin which I am trying to teach myself to use with the aid of a program purchased via computer.
Some of our best moments together are sharing in the gift of music. It is a fantastic way to bring people together and I truly hope to be able to one day play violin and accompany him with something besides my voice while we enjoy our music.

Most of the music we focus on for playing and singing is acoustic material - by bands like Great Big Sea, the Levellers (from the UK) and Acda en De Munnik (from Holland). Our house was shared with three birds and four cats, not to mention the varying number of goldfish in the pond outside! The two cockatiels were named Frodo and Bilbo, but both have now passed away in the last year. Our last (latest) bird is Dobby - named for the house-elf in Harry Potter. He is a red-cap parrot and an absolute charmer. Our cats include (from left to right) the mother, Guinness - whom my business is named after - and her three daughters, Molson, Murphy and Duvel.
